The Un-Likely Teacher

Finding someone to lead you through the "Ups and Downs" of life or a job or a relationship, you will know that this is a difficult task if not impossible. I cannot begin to tell you how many times I needed to ask someone a question about something I was going through and could not find one single person to aid me in my endeavor. If this sounds familiar then keep reading!

There have been many times when I could not find someone to help (not that there was not any one available) and so like anyone searching for answers I went out and looked for them on my own. Some people would call this the "School of Hard Knocks" or "Trial and Error," whatever you call it; we can all agree that it can be a costly lesson.

I want to point a common thread out that is weaved in almost everything I have tried on my own and sometimes with the help of others; Struggle! Struggle has been the common thread in almost any worthwhile endeavor that anyone has under gone. Although struggle, considered a negative and a foe to success, it actually has been an unlikely teacher and an asset on my side. I know that may sound a bit absurd and out of touch but in reality we learn the most through our struggles, not our success! Success is the result of the struggles that we went through in order to achieve the goals that we laid out.

Can you imagine if everything we did was an automatic success? That would be great, would it not? If everything we touched turned to gold, then why would we need to improve ourselves? That is exactly my point though! If struggle was not weaved into any worth-while endeavor and all we needed to do was to think a happy thought and all our problems would vanish then we would be a shriveled, lazy, incompetent, entitled group of mishaps. Now I know that sounds brash and insensitive but it is true. I believe that a person will become a better, stronger and smarter leader that will be better equipped to handle the struggles of life if they choose not to give up and learn from their struggles.

When internet marketers are boasting about making an enormous amount of money in a short period, it flabbergasts me. They boast that you can make a "Six figure income in twenty-four hours or your money back" and never will one single person ever achieve those lofty statements. I find it best to be honest and straightforward about what a person should expect when entering any field, which is why I can rely on "the struggle" to be brutally honest with me and not sugar coat the facts.

So next time you decide to try something new and things start to go unexpected for you, remember that it is okay if you are having struggles and it is okay that you do not understand, just get ready for one of life's best teachers who will be standing on your doorstep knocking at your door saying, "Are you ready to LEARN!"
